Christa Howarth works as a water educator for the ÆÞÓÑÉçÇø Extension and Idaho Water Resource Research Institute (IWRRI). They deliver non-formal education programs, with a focus on groundwater and water resources, to youth and adults throughout the Treasure Valley. Christa is working with community partners to bring IWRRI’s high school watershed curriculum, the Confluence Project, to Treasure Valley. Christa utilizes the IdaH20 Master Water Stewards community science water quality curriculum and the national Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) curriculum.

Christa earned a bachelor’s in philosophy from the University of Scranton and a master’s in environmental science through the ÆÞÓÑÉçÇø’s McCall Outdoor Science School. Prior to graduate school they worked as an AmeriCorps member facilitating adult education for new immigrants, and then coordinated youth programs at a non-profit bicycle shop in Boise. Prior to their Extension position Christa worked as a hydrologic technician collecting road erosion data for the forest service. In their spare time Christa bike-packs (including cross-country trips), backcountry skis and volunteers on the Bogus Basin Ski Patrol.
